I hope everyone has enjoyed their time off and spent time with their families! Alas the holiday time is over and it's time to go back to work. Help get over some of the holiday stress playing any of these free games! New year = new games. I hope this year brings out a lot more unique type of game play for all mobile devices and video games in general.

Pirate Kings (FREE)

At first I thought I was playing a mini-game before getting on to the actual Pirate Kings and I was pretty confused with this game when I first started playing it. If you are into interactive game this one is not quite as exciting. You're objective is to complete your islands by purchasing / upgrading everything in the Island Shop by earning gold from spinning the wheel. In while spinning the wheel you will also have opportunities to attack other pirates and steal their gold or go straight for the Cash King for a chance at higher riches. I completed about 3 islands before getting tired of it and honestly I don't think that the game is pretty 'fair'. There were multiple occasions when it would have landed on something better but spun a little more towards the end vs other times when the wheel will instantly stop. At the end of the day this isn't on my top games to start of this year but still entertaining nonetheless.

Run Sackboy! Run! (FREE)

Developer: Playstation Mobile Inc.
Size: 263MB / 256MB
Version:1.0.3 / 01.17
Required Android: 4.1 or Later
Required iOS: 6.0 or Later
In-App Purchase? Yes
Google Play Rating: 4.2
iTunes Rating:

There was one thing that disappointed me and it wasn't even about the game. The fact that the screen recorder through wanam can't keep up with fast paced games like endless map running. I was only able to get descent screen shots when the game was paused / not moving. The game itself was fun and did remind me of little big planet. Your goal is to collect stickers / points through the map without getting caught by the monster chasing you. The more points / money you get more things you can unlock like outfits.

Stick Hero (Free)

Developer: Ketchapp
Size: 13MB / 12.6 MB
Version: 1.3 / 1.0
Required Android: 2.3 or Later
Required iOS: 4.3 or Later
In-App Purchase? Yes
Google Play Rating: 4.0
iTunes Rating: 4.0

I learned to enjoy this game. You are a hero valiantly hopping over roofs using your trusty stick to hop on over the next roof. This game is all about timing, depending how long you hold the screen determines the length of the stick you will use to jump the roof. Be careful! If you over jump or just run short your hero will meet his end! Check this game out and see what your top score will be!

Zombie Highway (FREE)

Developer: Underwater Apps
Size: 20MB / 37MB
Version: 1.8 / 1.10.6
Required Android: 2.3 or Later
Required iOS: 6.1 or Later
Google Play Rating: 4.3
iTunes Rating: 4.5
In-App Purchase? Yes

I had asked a friend what time of games they enjoy playing and top of their list was Zombie Highway. Your mission is to make it as far as you can down the zombie infested highway without your car flipping over. You can upgrade your vehicle and unlock more weapons the farther you reach. Zombies will jump out at you from your left and your right, you can either shoot them or scrap them off against the abandoned cars on the road. After playing a couple rounds of this game I was hooked! Unfortunately just because I became hooked to the game did not mean I was better!
